John McGuire is a dedicated teacher that has 15 years of experience working with both academics and physical fitness. He has taught and coached children from preschool through high school as well as various afterschool sports.

Seven years ago, Mr. McGuire started his own business, Hoops There It Is. Recently he incorporated a new program called GymAdemics. This is an innovative program that combines physical fitness and basic sports skills with academics. This program is very versatile and can be used with all school age children from preschool through high school. The academic component is developed from lesson plans developed by each teacher and is implemented in conjunction with the physical element.

 

Trinity Episcopal Day School (TEDS) initiated GymAdemics under the direction of Mr. McGuire at the beginning of the 2013-14 school year. He works closely with each classroom teacher to strive toward reaching individual goals for the students. In addition, to teaching basic skills to our preschool and kindergarten, sharing, turn taking and good sportsmanship are being addressed.

 

Input from TEDS’ teaching staff has been very positive. They have commented on his ability to relate to the children and his use of appropriate discipline. This program provides a means to enhance the students learning as well as meeting the current New Jersey Standards for physical fitness.

Mr. McGuire has presented the program during TEDS’ Parent Initiation and Back to School Night.  He has spoken to several parents on an individual basis. They are very enthusiastic and supportive of the program.  They are appreciative of the ability to track the needs and success of their own child.

It is my pleasure to highly recommend Mr. McGuire and  I am sure that GymAdemics would be a positive addition your program.
